Tumbledown House began in the rain-soaked streets of Portland, Oregon back in 2009 by smoky-toned singer Gillian Wolfe and producer, guitarist and harmony vocalist Tyler Ryan Miller. The band relocated to the bay area and has since performed over 900 shows throughout 35 states and has recently released their third full-length studio album, “Sum and Substance”. The group has become just as notorious for their raucous speakeasy parties as they are adored for their intimate seated events, which are oftentimes enriched by lush storytelling; their ability to charm audiences of all walks of life is making Tumbledown House a rising festival favorite throughout Northern California and beyond. Focusing on beautifully crafted original songs, the band balances spacious, loose-limbed arrangements with precisely calibrated dynamics and tightly coiled energy.

The Campbells from Phoenix, AZ consist of Mike Campbell Sr. on acoustic guitar and vocals, Mike Campbell Jr. on electric guitar and vocals and Chris Campbell on bass guitar and vocals. The band grew out of a family love of music, especially country. The band focuses on playing old country music but also performs a large variety of rock, pop and classic songs from the 50’s and 60’s. The Campbells have performed throughout the southwest, including several sold out visits to the CPAC stage with their Marty Campbell Tribute show!

What would it be like to attend a recital where the audience determines the entire program in the moment? That's exactly what viewers will get when they attend a piano recital featuring CJ Madsen, the incoming artistic director for the Green Valley Community Chorus and an accomplished pianist and improviser. Join CJ as he plays an entire program of audience requests, ranging from classical favorites to jazz hits and musical ballads to sweeping folk tunes. If he's heard it or if you give him the sheet music, he can play it! CJ is delighted to be the new artistic director for the Green Valley Community Chorus and will also be sharing experiences from his musical journey and what you can expect from participation in the Chorus this upcoming season. Admission is free, with refreshments following.
Christopher Jed “CJ” Madsen is a first-year doctoral student at the University of Arizona, with an emphasis in choral conducting. CJ recently received a Masters of Music degree from Brigham Young University (BYU), with an emphasis in choral conducting. During his years at BYU, CJ was the director of the BYU University Chorale and also assisted the BYU Men’s Chorus, BYU Women’s Chorus, BYU Concert Choir, and BYU Singers. As a composer and arranger, CJ has had his works performed by all of the auditioned BYU choirs. BYU Singers released a music video of CJ’s arrangement of “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” in November 2019. CJ received his bachelor’s degree in piano performance from BYU, studying with Dr. Scott Holden, and he has played piano for 26 years. He was a featured soloist with the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra in 2017 and has performed in over 300 concerts as a soloist or accompanist. Prior to his time at BYU, CJ was the Utah Wasatch Front Music Sterling Scholar in 2012, an award given by the Deseret News and KSL News.
CJ is thrilled to be the incoming artistic director for Green Valley Community Chorus (GVCC) and invites all to participate in the upcoming auditions for the Chorus, information for which can be found at gvcommunitychorus.org.
