Artist Statement / Biography
I was born June, 22 1938 in Wuerzburg, Germany. I was educated in all girls catholic schools, most of them boarding school. I majored in modern languages and lived in the French area of Switzerland and a short period in Ireland. After coming to the US, I lived on a farm and raised 3 children. Unexpectedly, I enjoyed farming and also I spent over 20 years working at California State University, Stanislaus in the San Joaquin Valley while I kept farming. Upon retirement from the University, I co-owned and operated a restaurant and a Brew Pub. This turned out to be a horrendous endeavor and I was finally ready to totally retire.
One Christmas I received several gift certificates to an Art Supply store with which I not only bought supplies but also some how-to books. I started copying photographs and pictures using techniques described in the art books. I took a few lessons in California and then enrolled in regular classes in Green Valley. I am so thankful that at my age, I have found such a satisfying activity and have the most supporting husband.
