* TUCSON ARIZONA BOYS CHORUS TUCSON ARIZONA BOYS CHORUS

Since its inception in 1939, the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus has earned the reputation as a premiere music education and performance organization of both traditional, classic boy choir repertoire as well as representing the diversity of the American Southwest. Under the direction of Julian Ackerley, the boy choristers will be performing a variety of repertoire including their signature western selections with a demonstration of fancy trick rodeo roping. The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus consistently “wows” audiences, not only with the quality of singing, but the charm of their animated stage presence. The chorus has performed in numerous countries including China, Italy, Russia, Germany, Austria, Poland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The chorus has also performed at the White House and on multiple national television programs.

* A TRIBUTE TO MARTY ROBBINS A TRIBUTE TO MARTY ROBBINS

Marty Robbins was not only a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and racecar driver; he was one of the most successful singers in the world for the greater part of his nearly four-decade career. Robbins had sixteen number one country hits between 1952 and 1976 and many of his songs also enjoyed great success on the pop charts. Chris Campbell, leader of the Big Iron Band, was captured by the intriguing storytelling and resonance of Marty’s voice back in high school. Campbell has performed at several venues across the Southwest and was recently asked by Mesa, Arizona’s renowned Barleen’s AZ Opry to perform in their Jukebox Country Classics show for the 2016-2017 season. This year’s performance at GPAC by the Big Iron Band (Chris Campbell lead vocals/guitar, J.D. Hoag lead guitar, Billy Easton pedal steel guitar, Rick Puzzo drums, Denny Sarver upright bass, Michael Campbell Jr. & Mike Campbell Sr. backing vocals) …will feature classic songs such as El Paso, White Sport Coat, Big Iron, Devil Woman, Man Walks Among Us and much more!

Prolific film producer Phil Wenstrand is back once again with a captivating piece that explores the more secretive archeological sites of Arizona. Come learn about these historical locations, many of which have often been overlooked and forgotten, yet were right under our feet all along!

Time: 7:00 pm

Celebrating the music of the Winter Dance Party Tour (the final concert of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper), this live concert production honors their memory by capturing the rocking spirit of that final tour that also included Dion and The Belmonts. With hits such as “Peggy Sue,” “La Bamba,” “Chantilly Lace,” and “A Teenager In Love,” their music and legacy is remembered as they would have wanted - legendary performers rocking at the top of their game!

* GREEN VALLEY STAGE BANDGREEN VALLEY STAGE BAND

Back for their annual CPAC concert, the Green Valley Stage Band has been delighting audiences throughout southern Arizona since 1990. This 20-piece band of musicians offers an eclectic blend of jazz standards from the big band era, as well as jazz interpretations of modern tunes. Original arrangements by band director Jim Parcel and band bassist Dave Rudloff add a unique flavor to the band’s sound. Appearing with the band this year is Tucson vocalist and pianist Susan Artemis. Wherever she performs, she charms audiences with her sultry voice and sophisticated piano interpretations of classic jazz standards by Gershwin, Cole Porter, and others.

Get ready for THE HEATH SHOW! A one-man, high energy, comedic adventure! Heath uses stand-up comedy, quick-change costumes, original music, sound effects, and cleverly constructed props and scenery to take the audience on a journey through his vivid imagination and meet a cavalcade of manic characters. Heath Hyche’s TV credits include The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Last Comic Standing and two seasons on Blue Collar TV alongside Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and Bill Engvall. On the big screen, Heath appeared in the films Man on the Moon with Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell’s Talladega Nights.

Are you interested in this place where we live? Jack will take the audience for a verbal “walk in the desert” and explore why jackrabbits have such long ears, why mountain lions’ forepaws are larger than their hind paws, why the cacti do their photosynthesis at night and have spines instead of leaves like other green plants, why the grooves on the south side of Saguaros are deeper and narrower than those on the north side, why barrels are called the “compass cactus” and much more about the desert’s flora and fauna, all of which will change forever how you view this place we call home. Whether you are new to the desert or have lived here all your life, you will go away saying, “Wow, I didn’t know that.”

* THE MUSIC OF SCOTT JOPLINTHE MUSIC OF SCOTT JOPLIN

Montreal’s piano phenom, Mimi Blais, is one of the most highly trained and gifted pianists on the U.S. and international circuits, particularly noted for her flawless technique at the piano, her wit and charming French accent, and the humorous Gaslight Era personas she adds to her energetic and highly entertaining performances. Often dubbed the female Victor Borge, the Celine Dion of the keyboard, and the French Canadian Liberacette, Mimi is a top headliner at music festivals worldwide. She studied at the Quebec Conservatory of Music and McGill University in Montreal, earning advanced degrees in both classical piano and performing arts. Her performances are filled with humor, history, theatrics and music that will touch the soul. Mimi makes her return to CPAC with a special concert featuring the music and life of Scott Joplin commemorating the 100th anniversary of his death

* THE MAGIC OF MANILOWTHE MAGIC OF MANILOW

THE MAGIC OF MANILOW features Terry Davies and a line-up of musicians and vocalists paying homage to the music of one of the biggest selling artists of our time, Barry Manilow. Barry is best known for his catalogue of hits that include the chart topping “Mandy,” “Ready To Take A Chance Again,” “Could It Be Magic,” “Copacabana (At the Copa),” “I Write The Songs,” “Can’t Smile Without You” and many many more. In the late 70’s five of Barry’s albums were on the best-selling charts, a feat equaled only by Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Mathis. Beginning in February of 2005, Manilow headlined at the Las Vegas Hilton and performed hundreds of shows before ending his 5 year association there in 2010. Since that time, and until early 2012, Barry headlined at the Paris Hotel. To date, Barry Manilow has sold in excess of 80 million records worldwide. * FOX JAZZ ENSEMBLEFOX JAZZ ENSEMBLE

The Fox Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Angelo Versace, is one of three small jazz ensembles in the UA Jazz Program. It has historically been the premiere small group for the Fred Fox School of Music and has performed at various festivals including the Tucson Jazz Festival, The Onate Jazz Festival, and the annual AZ Jazz Week. The group performs a variety of material including jazz standards, and original student compositions and arrangements.

* MARIACHI ARIZONAMARIACHI ARIZONA

Mariachi Arizona, directed by Alberto Ranjel, provides students at the University of Arizona the chance to realize the rich musical heritage found here in the Southwest. This ensemble is well known both on campus and across the southwest. With annual performances during halftime shows of Arizona football games and dozens of other venues in the region, this high energy performance is not to be missed. Alberto Ranjel has been a pillar of the mariachi community for nearly his entire life. Known for his dynamic stage presence, vocal prowess, and violin precision, he is also a respected arranger, composer and educator.
